The 50k in May (2020) – MS Research Australia

According to MS Australia, Multiple Sclerosis is defined as ‘a condition of the central nervous system, interfering with nerve impulses within the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is characterised by sclerosis a Greek word meaning scars. These scars occur within the central nervous system and depending on where they develop, manifest into various symptoms’.

Currently, MS affects ‘25,600 in Australia and more than two million diagnosed worldwide’ according to MS Australia. With no known cure, MS Research Australia is doing all they can to beat the clock and find a treatment to abolish the condition, leaving it ‘behind us’. In 2012, MS Research Australia launched an awareness initiative, ‘Kiss Goodbye to MS’, which quickly grew into a ‘do it yourself’ style fundraiser.

Highlighting this cause were Eview Group members, Julie Ormston and Kerrie Broun, from Julie Ormston & Partners (Western Australia); the Eview Group recognised this positive and exciting challenge, and encouraged the entire network to take part in getting fit, whilst raising much needed funds for MS Research Australia.

Together, Julie and Kerrie led an incredibly inspiring and enthusiastic challenge, supporting the group throughout the entire 50kms. Deciding to participate as a team, leant itself to a virtual network of ‘walkers’, logging their morning or afternoon walk via, and a ‘live broadcast’ across the team’s online social platforms, showcasing individual participants. Together, the nation-wide team, Eview Group, raised a staggering $3,530.00, smashing the initial goal of $1000.00!!
